Meet Shannon

I’ve always been a mover and I’m currently living the life I always imagined I would. I teach pilates full time and I continue to train and audition as a dancer. However, things have taken shape in a way that I didn’t plan for.

I grew up as a dancer, and in my early teens started to develop chronic pain, migraines, and little hints from my body that something was not quite right. Things escalated when I went to college to pursue dance, and it felt like my body began breaking down. I was showing symptoms of autoimmune conditions, I had debilitating back pain, nerve compression, and was getting very little answers with doctors visits.

This brought me to Pilates.

My issues with chronic pain lead me on a journey of life style changes, studying the mind body connection, energy work, and trying any healing modality that would not only help me exist day to day but push my boundaries as an athlete.

It became clear to me that while no one thing would determine the state of my health, movement plays a crucial role in healing and quite literally feeling firm on my feet. Pilates feels like pure magic to me, and has allowed me to feel a sense of freedom and connection in my body I didn’t know was possible.

I knew I wanted to share this feeling with others.

Before I lose you with the “woo woo”, the magic I feel and see with clients is in how rich it feels to move your body through all planes of movement, feeling fully supported and connected. The beauty of taking a clear and capacious breath for the first time in years. The simultaneous demand for precision and letting go. Teaching pilates allows me to lean into my creative side, while also using my love of anatomy, biomechanics, problem solving and coaching to give clients the tools to change their lives. I have the privilege to see clients move from a place of fear or discomfort in their body to a place of freedom. I witness clients return to a place in their body where they are allowed to be the fullest version of themselves. I love the “woo woo”, but THIS is what I mean by pure magic.

I believe that our reality is a reflection of how we feel, and we move through the world differently when we make feeling good a priority. I believe that if we build strength from a place that is grounded and connected, we can be unstoppable in all that we do.

I’ve been working in fitness full time since 2019, and made Pilates my full time focus in 2021. My goal in teaching is for clients to achieve a more regulated and resilient system, whole body connection, strong and organized movement patterns, and a sense of freedom and connection they didn’t know was possible.
